Our vision is to create an outdoor space for educational/meditative purposes that takes advantage of the beauty and natural surroundings on FGCU's campus.

Daniel R. Isaacson is an award winning Landscape Architect with over twenty-five years of professional experience in residential and commercial landscape architecture. His designs have been recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architecture-Florida Chapter, the Southeast Building Conference, and the Collier Building Industry Association.

Jill Isaacson was a beloved mental health counselor in the office of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at FGCU. She joined the CAPS team as an FGCU graduate assistant and was awarded Graduate Student of the Year by the University. She continued to earn a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at FGCU and was subsequently hired in CAPS as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Jill worked closely with students on issues to enhance their self-awareness, personal growth and emotional wellness utilizing state-of-the art therapies. Of special professional interest to her were relationship dynamics, grief and loss, depression, anxiety and management of life transitions.

Jill was also actively engaged in the community. She led the annual CAPS Continuing Education Workshops featuring internationally known speakers to which the southwest Florida mental health community was invited. She served as President of Gulfcoast Mental Health Counselors and was active each year in the Multiple Sclerosis Gala, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other local charities.

Jill passed away in March 2018. Her dedication to the students, staff and faculty of FGCU as well as the community at large will not be forgotten. The Serenity Garden, a sun-washed natural setting on the campus she loved, is a fitting tribute to her memory.

Looking Ahead

Enjoy the renderings of the FGCU Serenity Garden. Located behind the Student and Community Counseling Center, the garden would offer meditative walkways, native trees and foliage and inspiring features such a mobiles, sculptures and water features.
