The United States is facing an urgent lifestyle-related health crisis resulting in the rising prevalence of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and certain cancers. The CDC reports 6 in 10 people in the United States have a chronic disease and 4 in 10 have two or more diseases. Eighty percent (80%) of chronic diseases can be prevented through lifestyle changes. To transform from “sick care” to “healthcare”, this series of webinars will provide resource to decrease chronic diseases, health inequity, and increase provider self-care and well-being. Dr. Terri Stone attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and is board certified in Lifestyle and Internal Medicine. Terri received training at Harvard’s Clinician Chef Coaching Program, Benson-Henry Mind Body Institute, Georgetown University SOM Mindy Body Medicine, and Culinary Teaching Kitchen. She served on Board of Directors of the ACLM and Co-Chair of HEAL. She serves as Medical Director/Co-developer of Fresh & Savory Culinary and Lifestyle Medicine Shared Medical Appointment Pop Up Teaching Kitchen Program at Medstar Health Lafayette Centre and leads Georgetown University SOM & Medstar Associate Wellbeing initiatives. Dr. Stone is an active member of the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative (TKC), International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health Program Committee Teaching Kitchen Research Conference Planning Committee.
