I am proud to announce the Lutgert College of Business’ recipients of the 2024 Marguerite Howard Research Fellowships, Drs. Lan Jiang and Ashley Mandeville.
These fellowships were announced in Fall of 2020, using funds allocated from the estate of the late Marguerite Howard “to endow a professorship, a chair, provide annual scholarships, or any similar arrangement that may be structured with the University.”
The selection committee, composed of Lutgert Eminent Scholars, felt all the applicants were very strong with impressive research records, and deciding on the top two was not an easy decision. Ultimately, the number of A* and A publications since 2018 was the deciding factor.

2024 Marguerite Howard Research Fellowship Recipients:
Dr. Lan Jiang
Associate Professor
School of Resort & Hospitality Management
Since 2018, Dr. Lan Jiang has had 16 publications of which three were ranked A* level journals (Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, and International Journal of Hospitality Management), three were ranked A level journals, and three were ranked B level journals, among others. Dr. Jiang provided a detailed plan for his upcoming research efforts in tourism economics which the selection committee believed would be very impactful for this region.
Dr. Ashley Mandeville
Associate Professor
Department of Management
Since 2018, Dr. Ashley Mandeville has had seven publications of which three were ranked A* level journals (Personnel Psychology, and two in Journal of Applied Psychology) and four were ranked A level journals. Dr. Mandeville described plans for her upcoming research efforts in parental leave benefits, neurodiversity in organizations, and social networks, which the selection committee believed would be impactful for managing organizations.
