The University Police Department is conducting a training exercise with a simulator that portrays the sound of gunshots from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in the Campus Support Complex and the Arts Complex. A grant is a form of financial aid that does not have to be repaid. FGCU participates in several need-based federal and state-funded grant programs.

FGCU Graduate Grant
Toggle More InfoThe FGCU Graduate Grant is awarded to needy graduate students who file the FAFSA by the priority deadline of January 1st. Students are eligible for a full-time award when they are enrolled in a minimum of nine graduate credit hours per semester; they receive a prorated award when they are enrolled in fewer than nine graduate credit hours per semester. Students must enroll for at least five graduate credit hours per semester in order to be eligible. The maximum full-time award is $1,600 per academic year. Due to limited funding, not all students that meet eligibility and deadline requirements will receive this grant. This grant is for one year only and is not guaranteed in subsequent years.
TEACH Grant Program
Toggle More InfoThe Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides grants up to $4,000.00 per year to upper-level and graduate students who intend to teach in a high-need field in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Undergraduate students must major in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Secondary Math Education, Secondary Biology Education or Secondary Social Science Education; graduate students must major in Special Education or Reading Education (FGCU Online Accelerate programs). Other majors may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students must have and maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA to be eligible for the TEACH Grant. As a recipient of a TEACH Grant, students are required to teach for at least four academic years within eight calendar years of completing the program of study for which they received a TEACH Grant. Failure to complete this service obligation will result in the TEACH Grant being converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. Students in the TIP program are not eligible for a TEACH grant.
