Through exposure to and practice in multiple literary genres, creative writing allows participants to refine their writing skills and cultivate creative abilities.
Our students come from varied disciplines and backgrounds, and some go on to pursue advanced degrees in Creative Writing. Skills developed in creative writing courses are transferable to educational, career, and postgraduate life applications:

Mangrove Review
Mangrove Review is a university sponsored, student-run literary journal featuring poetry, narratives (both fiction and creative non-fiction), and artwork. Submissions from students, alumni, FGCU faculty and staff, and the greater FGCU community, are accepted September 1 through November 15; the journal is published annually in the spring. Sanibel Writers Conference
Participants at all stages of development—from notebook scribblers to published novelists—are invited to attend a variety of workshops in fiction, poetry, songwriting, children’s literature, journalism, screenwriting, and creative nonfiction; panels on publishing & editing; and readings, keynote addresses, & concerts. All scheduled events are presented by celebrated and experienced writers and teachers, and open to full-time registrants.
