Justice Studies Internships

CCJ 4940

Students should begin thinking about their internship experience two-to-three semesters in advance of the semester they wish to complete their internship in or may even begin to think about it as early as their sophomore year.

Students may complete their internship in any area related to their major of study. Students may complete their internship within any related agency located throughout the United States, with permission of the Internship Coordinator and appropriately completed paperwork by both the University and Site the student will be interning with (this paperwork is facilitated by the Internship Coordinator prior to the student starting any hours or enrolling in the course).

• Internship Course Requirement
  Students majoring in Criminal Justice are required to complete an internship as part of their program of study.
  • • Students are required to register for and successfully complete a minimum of three (3) credit hours of the Internship Course, but may choose to do more, for elective credit.
    • Students must be enrolled in the internship course during the semester and time in which they are completing their actual internship hours in order to obtain credit.
• Internship Hour Requirement
  The Criminal Justice Internship is offered as a variable credit section.
  • • The course has a credit range from one to six credits.
    • Each credit hour requires that students complete a minimum of 75 internship hours.
• Internship Course Prerequisite
  Students must successfully complete Ethics in the Criminal Justice System (CCJ 4054) and Professional Development (CCJ 3095), with a minimum of a C, prior to taking an internship course.

  Students majoring in Forensic Studies are required to complete an internship as part of their program of study.

    • Students must be enrolled in the internship course during the semester and time in which they are completing their actual internship hours in order to obtain credit.
• Internship Hour Requirement
  The Forensic Studies Internship is offered as a variable credit section.
  • • The course has a credit range from one to six credits.
    • Each credit hour requires that students complete a minimum of 75 internship hours.
• Internship Course Prerequisite
  Students must successfully complete Ethics in the Criminal Justice System (CCJ 4054), with a minimum of a C, prior to taking an internship course.

PLA 4940

• Internship Course Requirement
  Students majoring in Legal Studies are not required to complete an internship as part of their program of study. However, they may wish to complete an internship for elective credit. Should a student wish to complete an internship, they must be enrolled in the internship course during the semester and time in which they are completing their actual internship hours.
• Internship Hour Requirement
  The Legal Studies Internship is offered as a variable credit section.
  • • The course has a credit range from zero to six credits. 
    •  Each credit hour requires that students complete a minimum of 75 internship hours.
• Internship Course Prerequisite
  Students must successfully complete Legal Research and Writing (PLA 3116), with a minimum of a C, prior to taking an internship course.

SYA 4940

Students should begin thinking about their internship experience two-to-three semesters in advance of the semester they wish to complete their internship in or may even begin to think about it as early as their sophomore year.

Students may complete their internship in any area related to their major of study. Students may complete their internship within any related agency located throughout the United States, with permission of the Internship Coordinator and appropriately completed paperwork by both the University and Site the student will be interning with (this paperwork is facilitated by the Internship Coordinator prior to the student starting any hours or enrolling in the course).

• Internship Course Requirement
  Students majoring in Sociology are not required to complete an internship as part of their program of study. However, they may wish to complete an internship for elective credit. Should a student wish to complete an internship, they must be enrolled in the internship course during the semester and time in which they are completing their actual internship hours.
• Internship Hour Requirement
  The Sociology Internship is offered as a variable credit section.

• • • The course has a credit range from zero to six credits.
    • Each credit hour requires that students complete a minimum of 75 internship hours.

• Internship Course Prerequisite-N/A

ANT 4940 or ANT 4932 (Museum Internship)

Students should begin thinking about their internship experience two-to-three semesters in advance of the semester they wish to complete their internship in or may even begin to think about it as early as their sophomore year.

Students may complete their internship in any area related to their major of study. Students may complete their internship within any related agency located throughout the United States, with permission of the Internship Coordinator and appropriately completed paperwork by both the University and Site the student will be interning with (this paperwork is facilitated by the Internship Coordinator prior to the student starting any hours or enrolling in the course).

• Internship Course Requirement
  Students majoring in Anthropology are not required to complete an internship as part of their program of study. However, they may wish to complete an internship for elective credit. Should a student wish to complete an internship, they must be enrolled in the internship course during the semester and time in which they are completing their actual internship hours.
• Internship Hour Requirement
  The Anthropology Internship is offered as a 3-credit course
  • •  Students complete a minimum of 135 internship hours.
• Internship Course Prerequisite

  Students must successfully complete Intro to Physical Anthropology (ANT 2511c), with a minimum of a C, prior to taking the ANT 4940 internship course.

  Students must successfully complete Foundations in Museum Studies (ANT 2040c), with a minimum of a C, prior to taking the ANT 4932 internship course.
