CAS Undergraduate Curriculum Committee

If proposed revisions do not require change to the program catalog, the CMS forms will be reviewed as stand-alone courses.

Exceptions

• • If your change only pertains to a course’s repeatability, you need not submit a change form. Please instead email the CAS Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment for directions.
  • If your change is only to course title or course number, please reach out to CAS Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment or the CAS-UCC or CAS-GAC curriculum committee chair(s) before completing the forms.

If the proposed revisions do require a change to the text or numbering within the catalog, then Create these 3 documents :

• Degree/Major Revision Form
  • • Find the appropriate form here (This page is the Academic & Curriculum support page, with additional information that you may wish to consult. Scroll all the way down to find the forms).
    • Complete all sections fully and secure letters of support from the Library and any impacted unit. 
    • Please note: For new, change, or delete courses, make sure the suggested course prefix, number, and title you add to the form matches what is in the CMS: e.g. LCM 4950 Senior Seminar appears in both places, exactly. 
    • Save as a Word document.  Save email documentation of outreach to and support from any impacted programs.
• Catalog copy revision
  • • The catalog copy is available online.
    • Select “Print Program Details”; copy and paste into a Word document; track additions and deletions.
    • Update the catalog year
    • Please note: For new courses, add the course to the catalog where you want it to go, using the suggested prefix and course number that corresponds with what is entered in the CMS, but represent it this way, with XXX for the last three digits: JTV 4XXX (4930).
    • Save as a Word document.
• Degree (aka Curriculum) Map - for Degree/Major Revisions only
  • • Reach out to CAS Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment for the Excel file.
    • Revise the program map even if you have no changes other than updating the date.
    • Revise it at will, no need for tracking changes.
    • Save as an Excel file.

Exceptions

• • • If your changes include alteration to common prerequisites or other standard categories, such as Restricted Electives, email CAS Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment for information prior to completing the paperwork.

Signature Process

1. 1. Email all required documents electronically to your Department Chair for review and potential signature.
   2. Email all required, signed documents to the CAS Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment who will confirm that your materials are complete and ready for review.

• If proposing a new minor, find the appropriate form here and submit it with the CAS-UCC New Minor Form.
• If you are proposing a new program, or a global revision to a major, you are strongly encouraged to meet early with the CAS Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment. This will help ensure that all state and university policies and procedures are being followed and your proposal is processed with the extra care it will need..

This is especially encouraged if your degree revisions are complex.
