Absolutely!  It is important that you are confident in the program that you pick, but also that you spend valuable time exploring major options so that you can declare your major efficiently.

Picking a major helps guide you in the right direction towards earning your bachelor's degree, and can help prevent you from earning excess hours. By declaring a major, you can complete the required pre-requisites efficiently which helps you stay on track with your major. 

Look at the Undergraduate Programs offered at FGCU to become familiar with what majors are offered.

We recommend that you start thinking about declaring a major early on, ideally within your first year. In the first two years, you will be working towards completing your General Education requirements, allowing you to explore courses that may guide you to a potential major.

You are able to change your major at any time, and as many times as you need to, while keeping in mind this could potentially delay graduation. If you want to change your major, you need to meet with an advisor to declare your new major. Each major has different requirements, so it is important to keep this in mind when thinking about changing your major. Some majors also have progression standards that must be met to be eligible to continue in that program (this can include grades, courses, and GPA). You can locate the different majors offered at FGCU with the requirements on the Undergraduate Programs website.

BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook: Discover detailed information about different occupations! This site is searchable by: Median Pay, Number of New Jobs (Projected), Growth Rate (Projected), and Education Levels. Additionally, once you choose an occupation, you can use the "How to Become One" tab to learn about required education, training, licensing and more!

LinkedIn: Use the Advanced Search feature to search for people in positions you might be interested in! You will be able to see how they got to where they are, including previous jobs and their major in college. You may even find a job that you didn't know existed!

Your Network: Your network includes everyone you know! This means classmates, professors, friends, parents, family members, local businesses and more. Talking to people you know could lead to a referral or connection that you may not be currently aware of!
