2. Select a course prefix from one of the SUBJECT dropdowns (required)
3. Enter search words in the TEXT field (optional, but will narrow the search results)
4. Press Search

Getting started with the Course Schedule Search

Search for program courses by using the Course Schedule Search utility.

Go to the Course Schedule Search Web page, then follow these steps:

1. Select an Academic Year from the TERM dropdown (required)
2. Select one or more of the search options to narrow your results (for example CAMPUS, COLLEGE, DEPARTMENT, LEVEL, PREFIX*, COURSE ATTRIBUTE**). For virtual or web courses, select VIRTUAL in the CAMPUS field.
3. Press Search.

*A course prefix is a three-letter designator for a major division of an academic discipline (for example, ACG for Accounting, BSC for Biological Science, ENC for English Composition).  See the Degree Requirements page for a list of courses (with prefix and number) that can be used to fulfill degree requirements.

**A course attribute identifies specific characteristics of courses that can be used in a Degree Evaluation to satisfy a degree requirement. (Course attribute examples are Humanities courses - GEHM and Social Science courses - GESO.)

Program Goals

The Construction Management Program in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering at Florida Gulf Coast University has the following goals:

• Support students in timely and successfully joining the construction industry workforce.
• Provide an educational environment in which students and faculty can excel academically and professionally.
• Engage constituents to foster the impact of the Construction Management program in Southwest Florida and beyond.
• Reinforce the program capacity to better serve Construction Management students and faculty.

Student Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Construction Management Program will:

1. Create written communications appropriate to the construction discipline
2. Create oral presentations appropriate to the construction discipline
3. Create a construction project safety plan
4. Create construction project cost estimates
5. Create construction project schedules
6. Analyze professional decisions based on ethical principles
7. Analyze construction documents for planning and management of construction processes
8. Analyze methods, materials, and equipment used to construct projects
9. Understand the role of the construction manager as a member of different multi-disciplinary project teams
10. Apply electronic-based technology to manage the construction process
11. Apply basic surveying techniques for construction layout and control
12. Understand different methods of project delivery and the roles and responsibilities of all constituencies involved in the design and construction process
13. Understand construction risk management
14. Understand construction accounting and cost control
15. Understand construction quality assurance and control
16. Understand construction project control processes
17. Understand the legal implications of contract, common, and regulatory law to manage a construction project
18. Understand the basic principles of sustainable construction

Graduates will be able to:

• Apply knowledge, technology and technical and management skills to manage the construction process and sustainably construct facilities and physical structures.

Content/discipline knowledge and skills are assessed at the College and Program levels through exams, laboratory assessment, design projects, teamwork assessment, and assignments. 

Communication Skills

Graduates will be able to:

• Create written and oral communications appropriate to the construction discipline.

Communication skills are assessed at the University, College, and Departmental levels through oral and written presentations, exams, projects, laboratory assessment, and other assignments throughout the curriculum. 

Critical Thinking Skills

Graduates will be able to:

• Analyze professional decisions based on ethical principles in the construction discipline.
• Analyze construction documents, methods, materials, and equipment used to construct projects for management of construction processes.

Critical thinking skills are assessed at the University, College, and Departmental levels through oral and written presentations, exams, projects, laboratory assessment, and other assignments throughout the curriculum.
