Aysegul Timur, Ph.D., is widely known for building collaborative teams of university
and community stakeholders to advance strategic initiatives, including workforce alignment.
She was unanimously confirmed as FGCU’s fifth president by the Florida Board of Governors
on June 22, 2023. Prior to becoming president, Dr. Timur served as FGCU’s Vice President
and Vice Provost for Strategy and Program Innovation, leading initiatives such as
micro-credentialing and digital badges and helping secure a historic $22.9 million
U.S. Department of Commerce Good Jobs Challenge Grant.
A Naples resident and first-generation college graduate, Timur is an economist with more than 26 years of experience in higher education. She earned a doctorate in business administration with a major in economics from the University of South Florida, complementing her MBA and bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of Istanbul.
