Next Steps for Admitted Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to Florida Gulf Coast University! Now that you are admitted, please follow these “Next Steps” to fully transition to our campus community.

1 Verify Admission Decision

Secure your spot by saying "Yes" to FGCU!

  • Go to your Future Eagles Account.
  • Use the email and password you used to apply.
  • Fill out the Decision Reply Form under "Secure Your Spot".

2 Residency for Tuition Purposes

Residency classification is a state-mandated requirement that must be submitted upon admission. Completing residency provides critical information for accurately awarding scholarships, financial aid, loans, and makes you eligible for in-state tuition rates.

  • Log in to your Future Eagle Account.
  • Click the Application tab, then click Residency.
  • Fill out and send the form - be sure to click submit at the end.

Tips:

  • Independent Students: At the graduate level, incoming master’s/doctoral students can use their own documents.
  • Dependent Students: If you do not have your own documents and you’re claimed on a parent’s taxes, they can use be the claimant. They must complete the form, provide their documents, and include a copy of their most recent tax return showing you as a dependent.
  • FGCU Alumni: Recent FGCU graduates moving to the graduate level are required to re-verify their residency for tuition purposes. Failure to re-verify residency may result in you being charged out-of-state tuition rates.

3 FGCU Eagle Account

This gives you access to EagleMail, Gulfline, and other FGCU systems. Check this EagleMail regularly for important information and deadlines.

Claim your student account at the My Account website by clicking the “Claim Your Account” link located in the “How to Set Up an Account?” section. Get directions to claiming your account at the Accessing Your Eagle Access Account for the First Time (Claim Your Account) webpage. You will need your University Identification Number (UIN) that is included in an email sent to your personal email account from FGCU.

Please note: it is FGCU policy that the EagleMail address is the only designated primary email address for all university communications after registration has occurred. If you need assistance with Eagle Mail, contact the Help Desk by email helpdesk@fgcu.edu or call (239) 590-1188.

FGCU Alumni: Your FGCU Eagle Account has remained the same. If you are having difficulties accessing your account should Reset Your Password. If you continue to experience difficulties with accessing your account, contact the Help Desk by email helpdesk@fgcu.edu or call (239) 590-1188.

4 Immunizations

All graduate students in campus-based programs must submit proof of immunizations. Students in completely online graduate programs are exempt from submitting the required immunizations. If at any time you change your course mode of delivery from online to campus, proof of immunizations is also required. Please go to our Student Health Services page to complete this requirement.

FGCU Alumni: Returning students should contact student health services to verify your records are up-to-date and lift new immunization holds you may have.

5 Graduate Orientation, Canvas, & Gulfline

We use the Canvas learning management system for online, hybrid and on-campus classes. Your login information for Canvas is your EagleMail address and password. You will log into Canvas to complete two online trainings and your orientation. Also, you will be able to access your class pages once your instructors activate them. Complete the student demonstration course on the website to learn more. Questions can be directed to FGCU Technology Support via email or by calling 239-590-1188.

Gulfline is FGCU's convenient online student system that will allow you to register for classes, pay tuition, check class schedules, review grades, register vehicles. To log into Gulfline, you will need your email and password. Tuition statements and final grades are provided through Gulfline — they will not be mailed to you. For Gulfline assistance, contact the Office of the Registrar by emaling orr@fgcu.edu or by calling 239-590-7980.

All newly admitted doctoral and master’s students can complete an online orientation through Canvas. Access the FGCU Online Orientation

Check with your program coordinator for any program-specific orientations you may be expected to attend. Program coordinators are listed on our Graduate Programs Directory

Check Gulfline to see if there are any holds on your account to ensure a seamless registration process. Once you are logged in, select "View My Student Profile" under the Student Records section. On the right-hand side of the black bar at the top of your student profile, you will be able to see if you have any active holds on your account. If you see any number there, you will be able to click on the number to review the type of hold on your account.

7 Course Registration

You can register for courses through Gulfline by utilizing the resources under the "Registration" section.

Degree-seeking and certificate students: Register on Gulfline or with the assistance of your program advisor/coordinator.

Post-baccalaureate non-degree students: Graduate Admissions does not register students for classes. If you are not able to register, find the appropriate advising office (based on the courses you are interested in), provide your name, UIN and the course CRN.
